Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2021

Cybersecurity Awareness Month (CAM) is an annual celebration in the month of October.

Now in its 18th year, Cybersecurity Awareness Month—previously known as National Cybersecurity Awareness Month—continues to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity, ensuring that all Americans have the resources they need to be safer and more secure online.

SCDCA will be celebrating CAM by holding free webinars every week on cybersecurity topics, hold free shred events across South Carolina and provide cybersecurity tips every day on social media. For a schedule of webinars and shred events, look below for more information

Cybersecurity Awareness Month Schedule 2021
Tuesday, October 5 at 10:30 a.m. Cybersecurity Basics This webinar will introduce Cybersecurity Awareness Month and teach you the basics of how to keep your information safe from cybercriminals. From phishing to keeping your devices protected, we'll cover the highlights on cybersecurity.
Tuesday, October 12 at 10:30 a.m. Cybersecurity for Small Businesses Small business owners not only have to worry about protecting their company’s private information but their consumers’ personal information as well. In this webinar, we will go over common scams that target small businesses and ways to safeguard against cyber-attacks.
Wednesday, October 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Shred Event at North Charleston Coliseum  In an effort to shred your sensitive documents in a timely manner, attendees are encouraged to stay in their vehicles and are limited to (3) three boxes (copy paper box or smaller) or (3) three bags (kitchen trash bag or smaller) per vehicle. There is no need to remove binder clips, paper clips, staples, rubber bands or CDs/DVDs prior to shredding.
Tuesday, October 19 at 10 a.m. Security Breach Webinar with SC Dept. of Insurance SCDCA partners with the SC Dept. of Insurance to talk about security breaches, what type of information is most commonly breached and what you can do.

Tuesday, October 26 at 10:30 a.m. Bank and Payment App Security This webinar will focus on the dos and don’ts relating to CashApp, Venmo, PayPal and other popular ways to transfer money. You will learn about safe ways to use this technology and red flags to avoid getting scammed.
