You can file a complaint and submit applications for licensing online. Filings you do not wish to make, or that are not available, online can be submitted via mail for processing.

Department staff is available to assist with any questions at (800) 922-1594 (toll free in SC) or 803-734-4200 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding State holidays. You can also email general questions to scdca@scconsumer.gov. 

 

Reports

The DCA produces a number of reports that examine consumer protection trends. The agency uses this research to perform its mission, including to produce legislative recommendations, determine education and outreach initiatives and provide comments to state and federal agencies. 

Complaint Reports

General Report - A compilation of certain data received from consumer complaints filed with the Department, including top complaint and refunds categories and complaints received by county.

Homeowners Association Reports - A compilation of certain data from complaints involving homeowners associations (HOA) presented in a categorized, filterable and searchable format. The report is published annually on or before January 31st. 

Credit Counseling Reports

Consolidated information from the annual reports filed by credit counseling agencies with the Department.

Identity Theft and Scams Reports 

2024 ID Theft and Scams Report (PDF) - This report shows the data collected in the Identity Theft Unit in the calendar year 2023.

2023 ID Theft and Scams Report (PDF) - This report shows the data collected in the Identity Theft Unit in the calendar year 2022.

2022 ID Theft and Scams Report (PDF) - This report shows the data collected in the Identity Theft Unit in the calendar year 2021.
