You can file a complaint and submit applications for licensing online. Filings you do not wish to make, or that are not available, online can be submitted via mail for processing.

Department staff is available to assist with any questions at (800) 922-1594 (toll free in SC) or 803-734-4200 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding State holidays. You can also email general questions to scdca@scconsumer.gov

National Consumer Protection Week 2019: Shred Days, Webinars and More!

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Get your file boxes ready, because the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs (SCDCA) is celebrating National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) from March 4-9, 2019 with a series of statewide shred days. The week will also include two free webinars and the release of updated publications on how to keep your information safe. SCDCA will partner with Shred360 to offer the following free events: 

-    Tuesday, March 5, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Timmons Arena, 3300 Poinsett Highway, Greenville (OLLI@Furman University)
-    Wednesday, March 6, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
North Charleston Coliseum, 5001 Coliseum Drive, North Charleston
-   Friday, March 8, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Shred360, 140 Crouch Commercial Ct, Irmo 29063
Shandon Baptist Church, 5250 Forest Dr, Columbia, SC 29206 

Consumers should not bring more than three file boxes to shred. Once in line, consumers should not park or exit their vehicles; this will help the line move as quickly as possible. 

SCDCA will also offer a free webinar on avoiding scams. Consumers wanting to learn how to Ditch the Pitch and guard against scams can choose to listen on either of the dates below:
