You can file a complaint and submit applications for licensing online. Filings you do not wish to make, or that are not available, online can be submitted via mail for processing. Department staff is available to assist with any questions at (800) 922-1594 (toll free in SC) or 803-734-4200 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding State holidays. You can also email general questions to scdca@scconsumer.gov

The South Carolina House Legislative Oversight Committee (HLOC) is currently conducting its reviews of several state agencies, including the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA). The mission of the committee is to “Determine if agency laws and programs are being implemented and carried out in accordance with the intent of the General Assembly and whether they should be continued, curtailed or eliminated. Inform the public about state agencies.” In more simple terms, are we doing what we are supposed to be doing as a state agency? Well, the committee wants to hear from you!

If you have had positive experiences with the Department of Consumer Affairs, please share your story with the HLOC. Whether it’s been through a presentation, webinar, the complaint process, scam or ID theft report or some other avenue, your story can help show the HLOC what DCA is doing to help consumers across the state.
