Department staff is available to assist with any questions at (800) 922-1594 (toll free in SC) or 803-734-4200 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding State holidays. COLUMBIA, S.C. – Rising gas prices have many consumers looking for ways to save at the pump. The South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs (SCDCA) reminds consumers that fuel prices are determined by supply and demand and that spikes at the pump can take place due to disruptions in the market, geopolitical events and natural disasters. While fuel economy can vary based on the type of vehicle you drive, there are some practices that can help you conserve fuel. SCDCA offers these tips to help you get the most out of a gallon of gas:
